Everything but...

Whenever I have a paper to write or something to study for, I seem to find a million other things I'd rather do. Today was no exception. I had to read (correction, I still have to read and write), but I managed to find some other things that "required" my attention. In my defense, I was still being productive :) :

[brewing coffee resourcefully]

[starting and finishing a crocheting project]
See?

[Just if you're curious, I did end up reading (I just haven't quite finished yet).]

[I even got some writing done.]

You could call all of these side projects stalling (stalling so that I wouldn't have to read and write), but it's actually a great way to keep my sanity. I've found that incorporating these things into my schedule of school tasks keep me sane as they cultivate my creative side and help me fight against the idea of life having to be compartmentalized.

What do you do that keeps you sane?  How do you like to express that creative side of yours?

Do you have a pattern you could share for your crocheted cowl/scarf? You can e-mail me at rachels_home@verizon.net. Beautiful!
